Fran Hurndall

Fran Hurndall is a retired professional soccer player whose passion for athleticism has led to remarkable success in the realm of long-distance running.

In 2023 Fran embarked on a bold journey to dribble a soccer ball from the Gold Coast to Sydney to raise money for national advocacy body, Women Sport Australia, during the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Covering a distance of approximately 1,000km over 34 days, Fran’s run – Chick with a Ball – set a Guinness World Record.

Hailing from Essex in the UK, the former Arsenal Academy player relocated to Australia in 2015 playing for Sydney University Soccer Club for three years. The 31-year-old now resides in Airlie Beach, Queensland with her partner.

From the football pitch to the track, Fran embraces every day with resilience and determination. As a former finalist for the prestigious FIFA Football Awards, Fran’s dedication to excellence has been recognised on a global stage. Yet, beyond accolades and achievements, Fran’s purpose transcends the realm of sports.

Driven by a profound desire to inspire change and make a difference, Fran has embarked on a courageous mission in 2024. Fuelled by personal experiences and a deep commitment to breaking the silence surrounding family and domestic violence, Fran’s Reach Out Speak Up Run 2024 project stands as a beacon of hope and advocacy.

Fran’s mission is clear – to challenge the status quo and ignite conversations that lead to tangible change. Through this endeavour, Fran aims to raise $1 million in support of RizeUp Australia, an organisation dedicated to empowering families and women to escape domestic violence situations.

With every stride, Fran embodies courage, compassion, and unwavering determination. As an athlete, advocate, and agent of change, her legacy extends far beyond the finish line, inspiring others to believe in the power of their own voice and actions.
