In 2025, Fran is taking on her most ambitious challenge yet: the Reach Out Speak Up Run, a 3,800km run aimed at breaking the silence surrounding family and domestic violence.
This cause hits close to home for Fran, as she’s running in honourhonor of her sister, who suffered domestic violence. Through every kilometre of this challenge, she’s running for those who’ve been silenced by fear and abuse.
In Australia, two out of every five people have been exposed to domestic violence, and one in every five women has faced family violence. Fran aims to set a new world record, beating the current record by five days, all while raising awareness and substantial funds for domestic violence support.
The journey will begin in May 2025 at Esplanade Park in Fremantle, Perth. Hurndall will run 12-14 hours a day, covering 110km daily, burning an average of 7,000 calories, and going through more than 10 pairs of shoes. If successful, she will set a new world record and also become the first woman to attempt this feat in under 40 days.
Fran’s vision for the Reach Out Speak Up Run goes beyond the physical feat. Her goal is to raise $1 million to support survivors of family and domestic violence, sparking critical conversations and igniting action. By pushing herself to the limit, Fran hopes to inspire others to take a stand, creating a ripple effect of awareness and support.
